Connecting with Spirit: Signs, Mediumship & Messages from the Afterlife

signs spiritual mediumship Oct 27, 2026

Have you ever had a light flicker for no apparent reason, noticed a bird or animal showing up at just the right moment, or simply felt the presence of someone you love who has crossed over?

Sometimes these experiences are easy to dismiss as coincidence. But what if they are something more?

In this episode of Divine Dialogues: Intuitives Unveiled, we wanted to have an open conversation about connecting with Spirit, signs from loved ones, the afterlife, and our own journeys with spiritual mediumship.

Both of us have learned that connecting with Spirit doesn't always begin with a big, unmistakable moment. Sometimes it starts quietly—with a feeling, a knowing, a flickering light, an animal behaving differently, or something happening that simply makes you stop and pay attention.

Rhonda's Journey with Spirit

For Rhonda, connecting with Spirit began when she was very young.

Her grandfather had crossed over, but she continued to experience communication with him as a child. At that age, she didn't necessarily understand what was happening or realize that these experiences would eventually become part of a much bigger journey.

Years later, during a workshop, Archangel Gabriel came forward with a message that Rhonda was being guided toward spiritual mediumship and helping others connect with their loved ones.

And Rhonda's first reaction wasn't exactly, "Great! Let's do this!"

There was resistance. There were questions. And there was a process of learning to trust what she was receiving.

But sometimes the Divine has a way of continuing to get our attention.

One of those moments came through a six-year-old girl named Gabrielle. During their interaction, this little girl recognized something in Rhonda and essentially "outed" her as a medium.

It became another confirmation for Rhonda that this connection wasn't something she was supposed to keep pushing away. It was something she was being asked to understand, develop, and use with purpose and intention.

How Does Spirit Get Our Attention?

One of the things we both recognize is that Spirit can get our attention in many different ways.

You might notice lights flickering, objects moving unexpectedly, birds appearing repeatedly, an animal behaving differently, or a particular sign showing up when you've been thinking about someone who has crossed over.

For Rhonda, blue jays have a special connection to her grandmother. When a blue jay appears, it holds a personal meaning that she recognizes.

This is important because signs from Spirit don't have to mean the same thing for everyone.

A bird that has no particular meaning to one person could bring an immediate memory or feeling to someone else. The connection is personal.

Animals Can Sense More Than We Realize

We also talked about animals and how intuitive they can be.

Tracey has experienced this with her own dog, who will sometimes begin barking when she feels Spirit is trying to enter the house.

If you've ever had a pet suddenly stare at an empty corner, react to something you can't see, or behave differently for seemingly no reason, you've probably wondered what they are noticing.

Animals are incredibly sensitive to their surroundings, and we believe they can also be sensitive to changes in energy.

Sometimes they're paying attention long before we are.

Mediumship and Religious Beliefs

Another important part of our conversation was religion and how our beliefs—or the beliefs we were raised with—can affect the way we feel about connecting with Spirit.

For some people, intuitive or mediumistic experiences can feel confusing because they don't fit neatly into what they were taught growing up.

That can create fear, doubt, or even the feeling that these experiences should be ignored.

Both of us have had to explore our own beliefs and learn what feels right for us.

We believe you can ask questions.

You can use discernment.

And you can take the time to understand your experiences rather than feeling that you have to accept or reject everything immediately.

Your connection with the Divine is personal.

Can Anyone Learn Mediumship?

One of the questions people often ask is whether mediumship is something you're simply born with or whether it can be learned.

We believe intuitive and mediumistic abilities can be developed.

Some people may naturally have a stronger connection in certain areas, just as some people naturally find music, art, sports, or other skills easier than others.

But natural ability is only part of it.

Developing mediumship takes practice, patience, trust, education, discernment, and continued learning.

It's also about learning how you receive information.

You may feel something. You may see something in your mind. You may hear a word or phrase. Or you may simply know something without understanding how you know it.

Learning to recognize your own intuitive language is part of developing your connection.

Pay Attention to the Signs Around You

If you're beginning to explore your connection with Spirit, you don't have to force anything.

Start by paying attention.

Notice what happens around you. Notice what you feel. Notice the signs that repeat. And notice what was happening or who you were thinking about when the sign appeared.

Most importantly, trust yourself enough to become curious.

Connecting with Spirit and understanding signs from loved ones isn't about having all the answers. For both of us, it has been an ongoing journey of learning, practicing, trusting, questioning, and discovering.

And sometimes, Spirit may have been trying to get your attention all along—you just didn't realize what you were looking for.
